Questions about our flours :

Are your flours made from hulled grains or whole grains?

Our flours are made from whole grains.

Where should I store my flours?

Moisture can cause mold to develop, so keep flours in a cool, dry and dark space. You can place flours in sealed containers for storage.

What are the ingredients in your gluten-free all-purpose flour mix?

Our all-purpose flour is a mixture of brown rice flour, tapioca starch, chickpea flour, rice bran extract and guar gum.

Should the flours be refrigerated after opening?

The flours do not need to be refrigerated, but it is still important to store them in a dry place away from sources of moisture.

Do I need a bread machine to make your bread recipes?

Our multi-grain bread mix can be made in the oven or a bread machine. However, our home-style and country-style bread mixes should only be used in a bread machine.

Is tapioca flour the same thing as tapioca starch? What about potato flour and potato starch?

Tapioca flour is equivalent to tapioca starch. However, do not confuse potato flour with potato starch. Potato starch only contains the starch from potatoes, while potato flour is produced by grinding whole potatoes. Potato flour is a much coarser product than potato starch.

Where do you source the legumes and grains used in your flours?

Brown rice flour: Argentina
White rice flour: Argentina
Buckwheat flour: Canada (Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick)
Chickpea flour: Turkey
Millet flour: United States
Lentil flour: Canada (Saskatchewan)
Tapioca starch: Philippines
Potato starch: Finland
Coconut flour: Philippines
Amaranth flour: Mexico

Is it dangerous to use your flours after their best before date?

Our flours have a very long shelf life provided they are kept in a dry place away from sources of moisture. Using them after their best before date is not dangerous, but make sure they show no signs of mold. Test and smell the flour. If it has an unpleasant odour, throw it out immediately.
